Frontier Country Fair

As part of the cast in Nauvoo, we managed a booth at the Frontier Country Fair which was Children's Games. These, of course, were pioneer games mostly made out of wood.  There were marbles made out of clay and fired in the brick kiln.  There was bowling with wooden pegs.  There was the bear on the string game.  This one was supposed to build your milking muscles as you alternated pulling each string in order to get the bear to the top of the pole.  This one was very popular.  There was a wooden frog that made the frog croak when a stick was run up his back.  There were also windmill sticks that turned with vibrations.  There were Jacob's ladder and a few others.  It was a fun station.  The kids really enjoyed helping and playing too.  Jarem looked forward to this part each day.

My mom took turns putting ringlets in the girls hair.  Tessa got them one night and Jesikah got them two nights.  It took her a lot of time to do it, but they felt so beautiful with their ringlets.

Here's my brother-in-law Aaron and his daughter Ashlyn. Their family was in charge of the puppet show which was just through the trees from us.

Jarem pulling the ropes on the "milking bears".  There was often a crowd of kids competing on this game.

This little boy visited our booth almost every night.  He was part of the green cast.

Jesikah with Jayden.  You can see the clay marbles and table in the background. Jayden (my nephew) stayed with us for awhile most of the nights while his parents and siblings did the puppet show. He liked the games.  Jesikah was good at taking care of this cute boy.

My nephew, Colton.  He and Alex spent a lot of time together.

We all enjoyed the Frontier Country Fair.  I especially loved the "sweet light" of the evening for my pictures.  It gave nice lighting on the pictures.

Here are Jesikah and Hayley at the Frontier Country Fair.  They are cousins and best friends.  They were inseparable during the entire trip.  Tessa also had a bff cousin: Kadie.  It worked out so well.

We forgot to put bug spray on one night because we had so many layers of clothes on we didn't think they would get through...wrong!  Poor Tessa's feet were eaten alive by chiggers.  I got several too, but couldn't even feel sorry for myself after seeing hers.  She kept telling me she was hot and itchy that night, but I had no idea just how itchy.

You're pictures turned out great. I'll be stealing a few! Hope you're getting over your sicknesses. Most of us ended up with colds when we got back.
