Carthage Jail

On Saturday, we headed to Carthage which is about a 20 minute drive from Nauvoo.  We called Grandpa Bass and Collette earlier in the week to talk them into coming to see us in the pageant, and we were so excited they were coming, so we met them in Carthage this day.  The tour started just as we got there.  Carthage is the location where Joseph Smith was killed by an angry mob who stormed the upstairs room of the jail where he was being kept and shot and killed both he and his brother, Hyrum.
Joseph fell threw the top window of the jail after he was shot and killed.

This picture is of all the cousins outside the jail after the tour...of course, Jarem didn't make it for this picture because he was in the restroom.  This was ironic because Jarem became known for always having to use the restroom no matter where we were.

And Jarem finally made it back

The boys

Our family with Grandpa Bass and Collette.  It meant so much to us that they came to Nauvoo for the pageant that night, and I think they enjoyed it too.

Just our family now...as you can tell, it was very bright out!

That is cool to get to see a part of history. I would like to go there someday.
