A Little Football

It was a cold and wet Saturday morning before Christmas.  Eric had been a little disappointed that our ward didn't hold a turkey bowl this year...(you know when the guys at church get together and play a little football the morning of Thanksgiving), so he was excited to get out and play some football with the young men and their dads from church.  The boys were telling Eric they were going to take him down the whole week before.  It was pretty funny.  It was supposed to be men against boys, but after the first game when the men were winning 35-0, they had to make adjustments and mix it up a bit.

Regardless of the cold, they all hung in there and played hard.  At half-time, they all had hot chocolate to keep warm.  Below are some pictures that I took at half-time:

Some of them were a bit muddy like Junior here :)

And Donovan had lots of mud splatters as well

Brandon and Matt were pretty muddy too.

But Jeremy Howe, Sr was one of my favorites with the mud splatters on his face

And covering his clothes... :)

Then there were the macho ones, like Nick who wore shorts AND short sleeves...he was a bit cold by the end.

And other "semi-machos" like Eric...

...and Alex who wore shorts on bottom and something warm on top, and still ended up pretty cold.

There were also the overly warm ones like Mark Bettenhausen in his snow-bibs.

Others were confident like Loren Richards and his broom indicating a "clean sweep".

Or overly confident, like Patrick, who plays for Rossview High School and teasingly reminded Eric multiple times over the previous week the ways Eric was going to be injured. :)

And the playing level just wouldn't have been the same without "special" spectators like Emma Tennyson and her mom.  I think Emma kept the boys playing their best. :)

I think it took Alex the rest of the day to warm up, but they both came home happy.  Alex made a touchdown on a kick-off and Eric said he scored a few touchdowns.  All in all, it was a good time, even though it was cold enough for hot chocolate to freeze.
