General Conference Weekend

I can't let October go by without posting a little about general conference. I LOVE general conference weekend. I always have. For those of you who don't belong to our church, this is a weekend that comes twice a year(April and October) in which we get to listen to the apostles and president of our church speak on topics of the day. It started one week ago with a session just for the women on Saturday evening. Then today (Saturday) with a 2-hour morning and afternoon session. Then in the evening, there is a session for the men. Sunday follows with (2) 2-hour sessions as well. They are broadcast to church buildings all over the world and you can also hear them online or BYU-TV as well as some other television and radio stations.

We always listen to them through the internet, except the womens and mens sessions which we attend at the church building. It is so fun not to have to get up early and get ready for church, but to get blankets and pillows and cuddle up on the coaches and listen to conference. This time, we let the kids play Legos while they listened as long as they were quiet. They did really well and all got along. Jesikah chose to take notes during two sessions though. Tessa even took notes on a couple of talks. I was proud of them. We asked questions later and they really listened quite well. :) It was just a great weekend. I love to hear the church leaders speak about the current issues that we face today and things we can do to become better people. It is always so inspiring to me. The above picture is of Alex and Eric just before leaving for the priesthood session. They always go for something special afterwards. That night they went out to Mexican afterwards with their friend and Alex's YM leader, Loren Richards. Eric was wearing the new fat tie that Jesikah got him for his birthday with her own money (at Goodwill) which he loves. He said he wanted to do his hair to match the "old man style". So he combed it down and across...
