Sunday night, I expected that they would have enjoyed having their space back after sleeping in close quarters over the vacation, but I guess they got accustomed to it because there they were, all in the same room, Monday morning. Mind you, it was almost 10am before they woke up. I was surprised at my late sleepers, but adjusting back to the time change from Washington was a little adjustment for all of us. It probably only felt like 8am.
Monday, Alex started his first summer business. We all received one of his flyers. He bought a 12-pack of A&W Root Beer and was marketing it to his siblings and parents. Well, they all took the bait including Eric and he bought one for me too for 36 cents each. Alex only ended up with one left.
The salesman in his "office" with his customers...(I'm not sure what's up with Jarem's pout). This money-making scheme led to other ideas, so the next day Jesikah and Tessa set-up a lemonade stand for 25 cents a cup. They made about $6 and some change. (I didn't get a picture)
With their good success on the lemonade and all the construction workers, they decided to expand their business to soda pop the following day. So, Alex schemed it, but doesn't like to interact with people, so he bought the pop and offered Jesikah almost half of the money if she would sell them. She turned out to be a pretty good salesman. She sold all 22 soda pops plus some lemonade in about 3 hours.
One of my roses...I think it's called Disneyland rose. I knew Marti and Susan would like to see it. They others aren't quite in full bloom yet.
Today, it was a bit rainy, so the kids decided to paint the bird, nest, and eggs that Tessa had made out of clay before school ended. Jarem is painting the nest, and Tessa is painting the mother bird
Here Jarem is focusing on painting the baby bird...I love his concentrated look and how it shows his dimple.
Tessa is painting the underside of the mother bird now. She wanted to make them cardinals, so we looked up on the internet what color cardinal bird eggs are and we found out they are light green.
I'll add their final picture later when it dries. It turned out pretty cute.

Wow! They made quite a bit of change...but what did they spend it on? Selling lemonade & soda is definitely a good idea in that heat. Your rose is beautiful. Marti picked it out-of course-as she is the Disneyland fiend (or queen if you will).
How funny about the money making schemes! Poor Alex didn't make quite as much as his siblings...I noticed they charge more for their products! You'll have some competition going on around the house with all that busniess around! :) How cute!
