Senior Prom 2014

Alex and Cassidy Taylor went to Prom together on Saturday, April 26th .  I think they made a striking couple!  They had a nice time.  Alex left around 4pm to pick her up for pictures.  I met them at the marina where we got pictures and then they left from there for dinner and the rest.  Afterwards, they went to After Prom, which is a school sponsored "safe party" where they have lots of games and prizes.  Alex won some cool headphones.  The After Prom didn't finish until 5am (and no one was allowed to leave before that), so Alex didn't get home until after 5am!  It made for a long date, but I think he had a good time!

This was funny!  One of the boys had seen a picture where guys had their hands in pockets and he really wanted figure out this pose, but no one could figure out where to put their hands and it was a little awkward.  Finally one of the girls came and arranged all the their hands in the right pockets and we got the picture.  The girl then had to brag that she got to touch each of their butts while she was arranging the hands.

I thought the picture turned out kind of cute in the end.

After Prom went from 12-5am after the dance

I volunteered to help from 11:30-2:30am.  This was the game that I was in charge of.  It was muffin tins glued to a table.  Some of the individual cups were painted colors.  There were three whiffle ball type balls, and each person got three chances to get a ball in a colored cup.  It was pretty hard.  Only once did someone get all 3 in a colored cup during my 3 hour shift.  They got a ticket for the raffle for each ball that made it in the colored cup.  It was a very exhausting game to man because I was chasing balls the entire time.  I was SO sweaty and exhausted by the end of my shift, but I was glad I did it.  It was fun to see what After Prom was like and also be there to support Alex and his school.

Senior Night

Senior night was a wonderful night celebrating the 7 seniors on the soccer team this year.  They played West Creek and won!  Alex played most of the game.  In between the JV and Varsity games, each senior was recognized individually and walked out on the field with their parents.  Each player walked through a tunnel of swords created by the JROTC to meet their parents and gave their mom a rose.  It was a wonderful night and I was so proud of all Alex has accomplished in soccer the past 4 years.  He has had his ups and downs, but he has persevered and tried hard.  This year has been especially hard for him because he would go to work after soccer practice each day except the days they had games.  Balancing work, soccer, and school while taking 2 AP classes (Calculus and Physics) as well as Latin III has required him to manage his time very carefully.  He has been really tired at work, has sacrificed sleep, and has had little free time but he has maintained a standard of excellence in every area of his life.  I couldn't be prouder.
